Interview With Roger Nygard: The Documentarian

We have had the privilege of interviewing Roger before, when we talked about his previous book, Cut to the Monkey. You can see it on the LMO YouTube Channel.

Roger has worked as a director, writer and editor for most of his life. He is known for his documentaries Trekkies, The Nature of Existence and The Truth About Marriage. He has edited shows like Veep, Who is America?, The League and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I have his book, Cut to the Monkey, and it’s a great read. He talks about how editing comedy is hard work, but worth it. The book has some great anecdotes about his work, times on different shows and more.

Roger’s new book, The Documentarian: The Way to a Successful and Creative Professional Life in the Documentary Business (yes, it is that long). Roger talks about how not to make a documentary. He covers all the mistakes he made and how not to make them.

Roger is a really fascinating guy and I was so pleased he reached out to us to discuss his new book. After the interview, we just chatted for a while.

Wasn’t he interesting? Honestly, I could have talked with him all day. Roger’s new book is available from all good bookstores, and probably some dodgy ones, from 17th Sept.
