The Ocean’s movies, 11, 12 and, what is the last one? Oh yeah, Ocean’s 13, did rather well. They were variations on a remake of the original 1960’s movie that starred the Rat Pack.
The remakes were the coolest of the cool, all trying to out cool each other with coolness.
The trilogy of movies is just that, a great trilogy all by the same director – Steven Soderbergh.
There was George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Cann, Don Chealey and more.
They were a great trilogy and it all ended well with the third one.
Well, that’s not stopping Hollywood. According to The InSneider, David Leitch is in talks to direct.
Leitch has directed Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Bullet Train and The Fall Guy. There’s a mix in there, not exactly world-changing stuff, but entertaining.
It looks like Clooney will be back as Daniel Ocean, in 2023 he said about a new Ocean movie:
“We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.”
He went on to say that the script was like the movie Going in Style from 1979. This was a new one for me, but it stars Geroge Burns, Art Carney and Less Strasberg who play three retirees who plan to rob a bank.
There was a remake in 2017, but I missed it. The original is going on my watchlist.
Soderbergh said he didn’t want to come back for anymore Ocean movies, he was happy with just the three of them. So were we Steven, so were we.
In the spirit of fairness and equality, I will mention Ocean’s 8. Ocean’s 8 was a dog turd that had been left out in the sun and started growing those white hairs!
