Isaac Not Sold On More STAR WARS

When you are asked, with a straight face, to deliver a line about somehow Palpatine returning, then you would forgive any actor for wanting to distance himself from a franchise. Oscar Isaac was asked about a Star Wars return while out promoting Frankenstein, and he seemed reluctant. Not for script reasons, though.

When asked about returning as ace pilot Poe Dameron by GQ, he seemed to indicate that any reluctance on his part is primarily due to Disney, and how they treated Jimmy Kimmel.

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, ABC and Disney took Kimmel off the air following some comments he made about the murder, and this GQ interview is said to have taken place just two days after Kimmel’s suspension. In response, Isaac said:

“I’d be open to it, although right now, I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great. But if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.”

Isaac had previously made a comment about coming back as Dameron if he “needed another house”.

The Star Wars sequel trilogy grossed over $4.4 billion worldwide, with each of the three films earning over $1 billion individually. The Force Awakens was the highest earner at over $2 billion worldwide, followed by The Last Jedi at over $1.3 billion, and The Rise of Skywalker at over $1 billion. The Rise of Skywalker was one of the most expensive movies ever made.

Many people went to see The Force Awakens multiple times, but by the time The Last Jedi was released, once was enough.
