Lawless Returns For More SPARTACUS

Lucy Lawless will return as the sneaky and self-centered Lucretia for the Starz spin-off series Spartacus: House of Ashur.

After her star-making turn as Xena: Warrior Princess and the well-received Battlestar Galactica remake, she recently made her directorial debut on the documentary Never Look Away. She is also back on Australian television in My Life is Murder.

This new Spartacus series starts from the position that Nick Tarabay’s Ashur didn’t die on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance. Instead, he was gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus (John Hannah) in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion.

Lucretia was the wife of Batiatus (John Hannah) and survived the first season finale’s massacre with Ashur’s help. She went on to become a prophetess to the citizens of Capua, until her death in the finale of Spartacus: Vengeance.

It looks as if she will also be a beneficiary of this alternative timeline, as her return as Lucretia will be as a guest star, according to a report in Deadline.

Spartacus creator, writer, and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight is back as showrunner. The ten-episode series is already filming down in New Zealand.

Graham McTavish, Claudia Black, Ivana Baquero, Tenika Davis, Jamaica Vaughan, Jordi Webber, India Shaw-Smith and Leigh Gill co-star.
