Matthew Lillard (Scream, Wing Commander) has joined the cast of the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. This reunites Lillard with James Gunn, who was the writer on the previous live-action Scooby Doo movies in which Lillard gave a well-received turn as Shaggy.
Nobody knows yet who Lillard will play in the movie, as most major roles are already filled.
David Corenswet returns as Superman with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac. Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), and Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific) also all return.
Aaron Pierre makes the jump from the upcoming Lanterns series on HBO as John Stewart. Adria Arjona has also been cast in a mystery role that some online speculate will be Wonder Woman, but others say Maxima. In Man Of Tomorrow, Superman and Luthor will be forced into an uneasy alliance to fight the world-ending threat of Brainiac.
Lillard most recently turned up in Scream 7 in cinemas, and Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. He also has a key role in Mike Flanagan’s Carrie coming up.
Man of Tomorrow opens in cinemas on July 9th, 2027.
