Looney Tunes Building To Be Demolished

The timing of this potentially creates terrible optics for Warner Bros. Building 131 on the Warner Bros. Pictures lot is to be demolished. This is the single-story structure where Loony Tunes used to live.

The reason why the timing is interesting, is because Warner Bros. has been accused of not treating the Looney Tunes legacy with respect recently.

Looney-Tunes

Warner Bros. Discovery sold off The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Story to indie distributor Ketchup Entertainment, basically washing their hands of it. Coyote vs. Acme was supposedly great, but they still dropped it for a $70 million tax write-off.

On top of this, they have scrubbed the original cartoons from the so-called “golden age” from their Max streaming platform as part of a strategic pivot to more grown-up programming. This was largely bluster, as the post-1990s Looney Tunes content remained on the platform.

And now they knock down the building. To be clear, it was an old building and they needed the space, but somebody in Warner Bros. PR should have understood how this would look.
