Matalas has vision. Make no mistake, Star Trek: Picard was completely in the shitter after two seasons of total dreck. Then came Terry Matalas, who took over as showrunner for season 3.
Through the simple mechanism of respecting the lore, leaning into the history, and giving the audience what he thought they wanted, the turnaround was spectacular.
As a result, Marvel Studios has reportedly tagged him as showrunner on Vision.
The upcoming TV series will see Paul Bettany return in his ghost white variant as per the final episode of WandaVision.
According to a report in Variety the new show will follow that series.
The report said Matalas was targeted by Marvel after that third season of Picard “greatly impressed the studio.”
Marvel chief Kevin Feige is apparently a Trekkie, and recently appeared with Matalas on a two-hour long Star Trek podcast Inglorious Treksperts.
Paramount have stubbornly refused to progress Star Trek: Legacy with Matalas as showrunner. Snooze / lose.
