Mega Review: FINAL DESTINATION

I say a review of Final Destination, this is going to be a mega review of all of them. I’m not going to go into great detail about each movie, because that’s just not worth it, but I will give a couple of paragraphs about each one.

Final Destination (2000)

The first of the Final Destination movies starred Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Kristen Cloke, Daniel Roebuck, Roger Guenveur Smith, Seann William Scott and Tony Todd. James Wong directs this one and the third one.

The original movie was a good idea. A group are about to get on a plane, one of them has a terrible premonition about plane exploding. He believes it’s so real, he causes a ruckus and ends up getting kicked off the flight, with some of his mates.

The plane does explode and he thinks he’s saved the day, but death has other ideas. One by one, the group begin to die in mysterious accidents. It turns out, you cannot escape death and the kids are dying in the order they should have died on the plane. A fuel line blew and should have taken them out in an order.

Can they cheat death and stop it killing them? Or is death going to kill them in creative ways? As you might know, it’s the second option and it’s all good fun with inventive ways to die.

As  said, the original Final Destination was a good idea and well made. It was good entertainment and I found myself caught up with all the characters. There was no nudity in this one.

Final Destination 2 (2003)

In this one, Ali Larter and Tony Todd return, but that’s all the cast that’s important. David R. Ellis directs, who is known for Snakes on a Plane.

The second movie is the one with the logging tuck and is probably the most fun. The logging truck is now a meme and the deaths in this one are lots of fun. I won’t ruin them, just in case you want to see it, but the deaths put a smile on my face.

Not in a ‘I’m a sick puppy’ way, but they are just creative and some of them shocked me. I had my hand over my mouth with a couple, as they were so well done. Someone on the talkback the other day said it was easily the best in the series, they were right.

Final Destination 3 (2006)

The biggest star of this one was Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It’s one with the rollercoaster. Honestly, that’s all I can mention about this one. The quality really starts to go downhill and they should have stopped at two to be honest.

The opening, with the rollercoaster was pretty good. I thought at one point they were going to kill off a couple of young kids, but they wuss out! There are a fair amount of boobs in this one.

Final Destination (2009)

This was just called Final Destination, but it was the fourth one. The only cast member worth mentioning was Krista Allen. I knew I had seen her somewhere before and she was in Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey, the girl in the elevator with the huge boobs.

This is the one at the racetrack. As I said, the quality really starts to slip here and it goes way, way down in this forth one. There’s no point in watching, although there are brief boobs.

Final Destination 5 (2011)

For some reason Tony Todd is back in this one, joined by Courtney B. Vance, P. J. Bryne and David Koechner. The kids that are killed off aren’t worth mentioning.

This time it’s a bridge collapsing. The bridge scene is pretty bloody stupid as an opener and I laugh at it, not with it. There are a couple of interesting kills, but again, nothing major.

What did annoy me about this one is that the group from this movie, end up on the plane with the group from the first movie. This was the most bloody stupid idea I could have possibly imagined. Can you believe that someone got paid to write that?

There are no boobs, so avoid at all costs.

Then, for some strange reason, Final Destination: Bloodlines is coming out, 14 years after the last one. Why? Who knows, this will be nothing but a cash grab, far too little, too late.

If the fifth one is anything to go by, this new movie will be terrible, like Section 31 terrible. I will give it a watch, but when it’s on streaming and I can find nothing else to watch.
