I slept over most of this weekend, so this Monday I’m even more tired. What’s with that? I should be awake, not more tired. Why Monday? Why?
The Monday memes are below, so you can scroll past my moan if you wish. I don’t mind; I’m just happy to be a keyboard warrior and putting the world to rights. I’ve just convinced someone that The Last Jedi isn’t very good. One person saved, only 8 billion to go.
My moan is another ‘they don’t make them like that anymore’ type of thing. I watched William Wyler’s The Big Country, with Chuck Heston and Gregory Peck. Man, what a movie. I’m no fan of Westerns, but this is an outstanding film. You have an amazing cast, a great story, and that opening score; it’s cinema perfection.
What really stuck me about the film (not a movie) is how ‘real’ it is, mainly because it was all real. The Big Country was filmed in Arizona, in the US. Every frame is filmed with this wide, big country. There’s no green screen, there’s no CG, it’s all real country, real horses, and probably real bullets. They really don’t make them like this much anymore. Everything these days is just fake. I took a bad photo…but what The Big Country, it’s fantastic.
