Day-Of-The-Jackal

New Trailer For DAY OF THE JACKAL

We showed you a teaser for Day of the Jackal a couple of months ago, but now there is a full trailer online.

Being an assassin looks like fun, I hear the pay is good. Day of the Jackal is based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth. The story for the new TV series simply says:

A manhunt takes place for a dangerous elusive assassin known only as the Jackal.

The trailer obviously opens that up a bit and does look interesting. I hope the strong PoC female catches the evil white man. I have no idea how it’s going to end, but I have a rough guess.

The Peacock series stars Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, Ursula Corbero, Adam James, Jonjo O’Neill, Russell Balogh, Lucy Russell and Charles Dance. Ronan Bennett is the showrunner and Brian Kirk directs.

The Day of the Jackal was originally a movie from 1973 starring Edward Fox and Terence Alexander. They remade it in 1997 as The Jackal, starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere.

Apparently, Forsyth insisted on having his name removed from the 1997 version. In that version, the credits say: ‘Based on the Screenplay.’ Now, I want to watch it because it sounds bad. Didn’t Jack Black get shot to pieces in that version?

Redmayne, talking to Entertainment Weekly, spoke about how this new series will give more insight into the character from the 1973 version:

“One of the things that appealed to me about doing this series was, in Edward Fox’s version — it’s two hours, that movie — Edward is so filled with charisma… and kind of wit and elegance, but you never get to learn anything about it. I wanted to see if through this 10-hour thing, we could get to know someone, but always be second guessing.”

The five-episode TV series of Day of the Jackal will premiere on Peacock on the 14th of November.
