Paramount Orders Season 2 Of MOBLAND

It’s a vast desert out there in entertainment land. There’s nothing but dusty remakes, endless miles of the same old same old, and sand that gets in your underwear and annoys you. Now and then, something like Mobland pops up and is actually refreshing.

The first season of Mobland has just finished showing on Paramount+ and has hit good viewing figures. So much so, a second series has been ordered. The first season was one of the highest-rated shows on Paramount, with a reported 9.7 million views.

Mobland stars Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillion, and Helen Mirren. I have to share this, but here’s Brosnan getting into his Irish character.

There’s one for Mirren as well, t’be sure, t’be sure.

Chris McCarthy, one of Paramount’s CEO’s said in a statement:

“With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph — driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen. We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.”

Mobland was created by Ronan Bennet, and had Guy Ritchie directing 2 of the episodes. The story is:

Power is up for grabs as two warring crime families clash in a battle that threatens to topple empires. In the crossfire stands Harry Da Souza, a street-smart ‘fixer’ who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide.

I didn’t get into the first couple of episodes, but saw everyone was raving about it, so I gave it another chance. It does get better, and the story is very good. It makes me glad I’m not a gangster or frequent any nightclubs.

There is no news when the second series of Mobland will be out, but I’m sure Tom Hardy will come around and kick our heads in if we don’t let you know.

Please help keep the lights on at the Last Movie Outpost, if you can spare a few bucks.
