PIRATES Reboot To Shoot Next Year

Hollywood, a town seemingly bereft of new ideas, has been circling more Pirates Of The Caribbean for years. Nobody seems entirely sure what exactly is going on with it all.

There is still talk of a female-centric version starring Margot Robbie. There is also talk of a reboot with a whole new cast. This is supposed to be the version originally scripted by Chernobyl and The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin and franchise scribe Ted Elliot. That was then rewritten by Jeff Nathanson (The Young Woman and the Sea).

The studio was predictably keen on Johnny Depp returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, after unwisely kicking him to the curb over the now disproven Amber Heard accusations. Depp needs the money, and the studio feels there is no Pirates without Depp.

However, this is a reboot, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer indicated that while he loves the character, as it is a reboot then Sparrow is unlikely to feature.

Now, a report from World of Reel says that one of these projects will be shooting late next year on Saint Vincent. That is all that is known at this time.

Margot Robbie has just given birth, so she could be getting back to work around then, or is this the reboot?

The last Pirates Of The Caribbean instalment was seven years ago and counting.
