It has been known since the launch of the new DCU that we would eventually be getting a new Batman, with the Matt Reeves / Robert Pattinson movies repeatedly confirmed as Elseworlds stories, and possibly with tone and creative challenges to fold them into the DCU.
A while back, The Running Man, Twisters, and Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell said, in an interview with GQ, that he was “always a Batman guy”. He went on to say he would play the role closer to Keaton than the Matt Reeves’ version.

Now, online scooper Jeff Sneider says that Powell has been in talks with DC. The subject of those talks is a big role that requires a major commitment and multiple options. Sneider goes on to say there are a number of options, and mentions Hellblazer / Constantine. That role is unlikely to be considered as either a major commitment or to have multiple options attached.
Powell apparently started following both DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and The Brave and The Bold director Andy Muschietti on Instagram last year. It remains to be seen whether The Brave And The Bold will ever be realised as a project, because Gunn has confirmed that creative plans for Batman have changed considerably in recent years.
So, of course, the speculation is now swirling around Powell and the role of Batman. Fan favorite Alan Ritchson appeared to rule himself out of the role earlier in the year, but maintains he would still be interested in joining the DCU in some form.
