I didn’t know how else to word this article, but I think it works. Firstly, Project Hail Mary seems to be a smash hit which everyone loves. So far, the movie has made around $300 million. It’s had a week-to-week drop of 32%, but that’s better than Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two.
I’ll admit, I’m not sure how the week-to-week numbers thing works, but from what I read, Project Hail Mary is on track to possibly break the $1 billion mark. So far, the reviews for the movie have been very good, and Wrenage gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
Andy Weir, who wrote Project Hail Mary, and The Martain, must be feeling pleased with himself. Well, it turns out he’s even cooler than we think.
Firstly, Weir appeared on the Drinker’s podcast and had a good chat. I haven’t seen/heard it yet, but it’s on my list. Although some people weren’t happy that the creator of Project Hail Mary appeared on the show.

The black lash has been hilarious.
Secondly, Weir has been weighing in on modern Star Trek. As we all know, Star Trek has been through the wringer, like most other franchises. Starfleet Academy is just another nail in the coffin.
Weir said about modern Star Trek:
“All modern science fiction has been influenced by Roddenberry Trek, except modern Trek. I like Strange New Worlds, I think it’s pretty good. I didn’t hate Enterprise. I thought it was kinda weird but… Lower Decks I thought was entertaining and fun. All the others, they can go.”
However, Weir went on to say about Alex Kurtzman:
“I don’t like a lot of the new Trek, but I actually think he, as a person, is a really nice guy. I feel a little bad for him, but at the same time, those shows are shit.”
I haven’t seen Project Hail Mary yet, but I’m off to see it at the cinema, to make it more money!
