There are movies we simply did not want, or need, yet we can’t help but be curious about. One of these is John Rambo, the upcoming Rambo prequel.
The movie was already shot in Thailand from January through to March, wrapping up main photography already. It follows Noah Centineo (Street Fighter) as John Rambo, fighting in the jungles of Vietnam during the American War. This will be set several years before First Blood.
Now, the Lionsgate and Millennium Media project has filled its final key role, Rambo’s superior and mentor, Major Sam Trautman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former Stranger Things star David Harbour will play the role that was originally played by the late Richard Crenna across all three original films. The character did not appear in Rambo or Rambo: Last Blood.
Sisu director Jalmari Helander is in the chair, working from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam, The Mauritanian). Dollars also come from Templeton Media and the Russo brothers’ AGBO. Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco produce, with Sylvester Stallone and Anthony and Joe Russo executive producing.
Harbour will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday.
A release date has not been set yet.
