RAMmageddon To Delay PS6?

There were rumors that the current shortage of RAM would impact the latest generation of consoles. We reported on this back at the start of the year.

That view now seems to be solidifying as mainstream business outlets are starting to pick up on the noises.

Bloomberg calls is RAMmageddon. This is the total shortage of RAM out there in the wild as AI servers have ravenous appetites.

Dancing cat videos and fan augmentation of various Star Wars scenes has a cost, and that cost is no RAM left for the rest of us.

This is all contributing in the non-stop demand for HBM memory. This is leaving phone, laptop, and PC production struggling to keep up and running short on DRAM.

Big US tech companies such as Apple and Tesla have warned the impacts are becoming hard to manage, and with the Chinese stranglehold on rare earth minerals tightening, the issues are becoming acute.

Sony Group Corp is now according to the Bloomberg reports considering pushing back the debut of its next PlayStation console to 2028 or even 2029.

Which is good for me as I have only just bought a PS5.
