We knew that Reacher season 3 was already in production for Amazon Prime Video. We knew it was adapting a story that featured more of a solo Jack Reacher after he was teamed with former colleagues in season 2. We didn’t know, until now, which book it would be based on.
Star Alan Ritchson and producer Nick Santora have revealed it will be based on Lee Child’s seventh Jack Reacher novel – Persuader.
Only Maria Sten will return alongside Ritchson for the third season, in the role of Frances Neagley. The renewal was announced in December before Season 2 had even screened. Season 2 would go on to top the Prome Video charts for its premiere weekend.
The official synopsis of the book via Goodreads is as follows:
Staging a brilliant ruse, Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise. Trying to rescue an agent whose time is running out, Reacher enters a crime lord’s waterfront fortress. There he will find a world of secrecy and violence – and confront some unfinished business from his own past.”
The story is set in rural Maine in the novel. Nick Santora continues as showrunner and Executive Producer. Child joins him on the points roster. Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios put up the money.
As of 24 October 2023, 28 Jack Reacher novels, plus some short stories, have been published. First published in 1997, the series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. The latest books are now written by Lee Child’s brother, Andrew.
