Something For The Weekend

Yes, it’s Friday, the start of the weekend. I imagine you’ve all been working very hard at work, listening carefully to your boss, sending polite replies to those emails and thoroughly enjoying Zoom calls, that could have been an email.

With all that pent up aggression, let yourself got this weekend with some movies and TV shows that will calm you down. Kick back, grab your remote (not a euphemism) and let the Last Movie Outpost suggest some movies for you.

  • The Last Starfighter – Movie – Still a classic.
  • Chosen Family – Movie – Rom-com from Heather Graham, average at best.

  • In the Lost Lands – Movie – From Paul W. S. Anderson, basically Milla standing around shooting guns, like all of the Resident Evil movies. It was not good.
  • Black Mirror – TV Series – Season 7 was back on form with some damn good episodes.
  • Battleship – Movie – Dumb as a bag of rocks, but entertaining!
  • The Music Man – Movie – The original with Robert Preston, and still a classic musical that is great fun.
  • Douglas Adams: The Man Who Imagined the Future – Documentary – An hour-long docu about the man who gave us the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Really interesting and a shame about his death.
  • Last One Laughing – TV Series – 10 British comedians are put into a room and are not allowed to laugh. Some of it was pure gold comedy, I was crying with laughter at a couple of moments.
  • Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 – Movie – Silly, but fun. Nice to see Dr Who without the ‘message’.
  • Woman in the Yard – Movie – Blumhouse have still not made a scary horror movie.
  • Shin Godzilla – Movie – This was really good, more below.

What are you going to watch this weekend? There’s a good mixed bag there. Are you going to revisit a classic or find something new?

Shin Godzilla

The director of Shin Godzilla has a new ‘Speed on a Train’ movie out, Bullet Train Explosion. I found Shin and put it on, and it’s a really good movie. I’m not a huge Godzilla fan, but I loved how this played out.

Godzilla kind of pops out of nowhere and starts to make his way to Tokyo. The majority of the movie is about how the leaders, politicians and scientists have to deal with it. It sounds dull, but it was really well done.

One thing that did annoy me in the movie was that they kept putting up subtitles for every person and every location. I didn’t need to know that the newest scene was at the ‘Western Quarter Bus Station Evacuation Point’, I could pretty much guess that. What was worse was that they kept putting up subtitles of who was who, instead of the dialogue subtitles. I don’t need to know that guy is the Minister of Environmental and Ecological Internal Affairs, I did want to know what he was saying though!

Outside of the offices, the destruction by Godz is epic, but that just makes it all worse. This was a great watch for the weekend.

Your Weekend

So, what are you going to watch? A few new movies have dropped today, Havoc with Tom Hardy, Freaky Tales with everyone’s favourite, Pedro Pascal and Neighbourhood Watch with Jeffery Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid.

I’m planning on watching Havoc this weekend and reviewing. I mean, it’s Gareth Evans and Tom Hardy, what’s not to look forward to? I’ve said it before, but The Raid is one of the best action movies ever made.

The Raid is so well directed, Evans lets the actors fight, and you can feel every punch, kick and bullet wound. I really hope Havoc doesn’t disappoint.

Anyway, what are you going to binge this weekend?
