SPACEBALLS 2: The Search For More Money

Star Wars is good, but Spaceballs was funnier. It is one of those classics from Mel Brooks that was a loving spoof of most sci-fi movies. Well, Yoghurt might be back in Spaceballs 2.

At first, I rolled my eyes at this announcement, but that trailer is funny. It doesn’t hold back about the state of modern Hollywood, with its prequels, sequels, and reboots.

At the moment, the only thing we know about Spaceballs 2 is that Josh Greenbaum will direct, with Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and Josh Gad penning the screenplay.

Reports at the moment are saying that Bill Pullman will be back as Lone Star, and Brooks will most likely be Yoghurt again. Obviously, John Candy sadly passed away, so Barf won’t be back. Pullman’s son, Lewis Pullman, has been cast, possibly as Lone Star’s son.

There is talk about Rick Moranis coming out of retirement to play Dark Helmet again. Moranis famously retired when his wife passed away and he left the limelight to raise his children. He made some guest appearances at conventions, but found that being a father was more important than acting.

It seems like Brooks will be having a pop at modern Hollywood in Spaceballs 2, the tagline for the movie is:

“A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film”

That’s pretty much how everyone feels about modern Hollywood. Will Spaceballs 2 be Brooks’ swansong, having a real dig at Hollywood? I don’t like to say swansong, but he is old.

Please help keep the lights on at the Last Movie Outpost, if you can spare a few bucks.
