SUPER MARIO GALAXY Trailer Reveals Yoshi

The maths ain’t mathin’ around Mario. Apparently the Super Mario Galaxy movie is supposed to be the 40th anniversary of the character.

Trouble is, I remember standing in a school playground and looking in awe at some kids Nintendo Game & Watch hand-held, LCD-screened wonder featuring Mario.

It was definitely longer than 40 years ago.

Make it make sense! Also, if somebody could stop making time fly past quite so quickly, that would also be appreciated, thanks!

Anyway, speaking of Super Nintendo Galaxy, the three-way powerhouse of Nintendo, Universal Pictures and Illumination have released a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

This is the sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie which was not only an absolute delight but is also second-highest-grossing film of 2023, the third-highest-grossing animated film of all time, and the eighteenth-highest-grossing film of all time. Wow!

This new trailer is notable because it shares the first look at Yoshi.

Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) all return for this sequel.

The Super Mario Galaxy game provides story inspiration, but the studio says that it will branch out to cover all generations of the character.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens in cinemas on April 1st.
