Production has officially started on Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow at the UK’s Leavesden Studios, home of Harry Potter and the latest Batman movies. To signal this, DC Studios chief James Gunn has shared the first set photo from the production.
It looks like Milly Alcock shot from behind, sitting in a director’s chair. The chair features what could be the logo to be used for this film.
Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow is said to be inspired by Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s award-winning comic book. It follows Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in an intergalactic adventure. It features Krypto the Superdog and SUpergirl teaming up with a warrior named Ruthye (Eve Ridley) to hunt down a villain.
Matthias Schoenaerts will play the villain in the film, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Krem is a skilled fighter who killed Ruthye’s father and injured Krypto. We know Jason Momoa will make a cameo as alien bounty hunter Lobo. Meanwhile, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham have signed on as Kara’s Kryptonian parents.
Craig Gillespie is directing from a script adapted by renowned playwright Ana Nogueira. On X, Gun said:
Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom… pic.twitter.com/za9Tr8Vryr
