It’s Superman Day. Or it was. And to celebrate that special day where Superman was crucified so that we could all eat chocolate eggs, or something, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios have released a new featurette about the James Gunn film.
In the clip, Gunn talks about how the nobility and goodness of Superman are important to him.
There’s plenty of new footage showing the cast and crew in action. In one shot in particular, Superman’s cape looks rather good. This is part of the ramping up of marketing following the teaser trailer and the extended look. A second trailer is expected shortly.
The new film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/The Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It will follow an already established Superman who is early in his caped career. He struggles to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing, guided by human kindness in a world that sees that kindness as old-fashioned.
Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and an expected cameo from Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
Superman hits movie theaters on July 11th.
