Warner Bros has released a teaser for Tom Cruise’s next movie, Digger. Yes, I spelled that correctly.
The synopsis for Digger is as follows:
The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.
Cruise plays Digger Rockwell. I assume that’s him carrying the spade, so there may be some nominative determinism going on. Test audiences have pointed out that Cruise looks unrecognisable in the role. Will we see an over-the-top performance similar to Tropic Thunder?
Digger is directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, best known for Babel, Birdman and The Revenant. Birdman was a quirky movie featuring a slightly unhinged protagonist, and I’m getting a similar vibe here.
