The Accountant always felt like something of a guilty pleasure, but it turns out it was actually a big hit.
The first movie was made for just $44 million, and went on to gross three times that. It was also the most rented digital movie of 2017.
So the inevitable sequel arrives later this week, and Amazon MGM Studios has released a final trailer.
The Accountant 2 features Ben Affleck returning as Christian Wolff, a highly skilled accountant with autism who moonlights as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations.
When an old acquaintance is murdered, he leaves behind a cryptic message and Christian is drawn into the case.
Wolff recruits his estranged brother (Jon Bernthal), to help.
In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.
Daniella Pineda and Allison Robertson co-star.
Director Gavin O’Connor returns from the first film, as does writer Bill Dubuque.
The Accountant 2 opens in cinemas this Friday, April 25th.
