THE ‘BURBS TV Series Trailer

You know what I love about the Last Movie Outpost? It’s that we don’t shill. We don’t get paid for reviews, we don’t have to kiss ass, we just give honest reviews. Take, for example, this trailer for a new series The ‘Burbs.

The ‘Burbs stars Keke Palmer, Julie Duffy, Jack Whitehall, Mark Proksch, Paula Pell, Kapli Talwalker, and Chad Lindberg. Celeste Hughey is the showrunner, who is known for Palm Royale, Dead to Me, and High Fidelity, the TV series, not the movie. The story is:

A young couple moves back to the husband’s childhood home, only to face threats from new neighbors and uncover dark secrets of their cul-de-sac.

I’m taking it that you know the original The ‘Burbs, with Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, Carrie Fisher, and Rick Ducommun. Joe Dante directed a quirky little comedy about a neighbour who thinks a new family are satanists. The original movie came out in 1989 and is brilliant.

The ‘Burbs is one of those underrated comedies that is still funny today. I saw it recently, and I couldn’t help but laugh with it.

The original The ‘Burbs cast looking at the new trailer

This new series looks like it’s in the category of ‘We know you love older movies, so we’re going to ruin them for you!’. If you took everything special out of the original The ‘Burbs, the great cast, the direction by Dante, and the wackiness, you’re left with this new series.

This new series of The ‘Burbs will be streaming on Peacock on the 8th of February, and I, for one, will not be watching it!
