Just in time for Christmas is a new story about Jesus. Although The Carpenter’s Son is taking a slightly different style with the Christmas story, it’s a horror movie.
The Carpenter’s Son stars Nick Cage, Noah Jupe, FKA Twigs, Isla Johnston, Souheila Yacoub, and Elena Topalidou. Lofty Nathan is the writer and director. If you think you know the name FKA Twigs, she was the appropriately named wooden plank from The Crow remake.
The story for The Carpenter’s Son is:
With his family hiding in Roman Egypt, a Son known as ‘the Boy’ doubts his guardian, ‘the Carpenter’, and begins to rebel with mysterious powers. As he uses these abilities, they face both natural and divine horrors.
So, this the period after the nativity, and before the stories of adult Jesus, where the Carpenter is having a crisis of conscience because of his “son”, presumably whom Mary has told him is the son of God at this stage?
It’s also a bold movie that Johnston appears to be ‘the bad guy’, as she seems to be the Antichrist. Then again, everything about this movie seems bold and set to upset some people.
I have asked for a screener The Carpenter’s Son, but even I’m pushing myself with this, as at the moment, the current score on Shill Central Rotten Tomatoes is 38% and the IMDb is showing 3.6.

I might get some kids around on Christmas Day and get them to watch The Carpenter’s Son.
The movie will be in UK cinemas from the 21st of November, then on digital on the 22nd of December.
