The teaser dropped back in March, but since then, things have been quiet on the Toxic Avenger front. Then an exclusive Red Band trailer dropped about three weeks ago, and we missed it somehow. We will administer our spanking later. Until then, thank Outposter Bourgoisie Scum for bringing it to our attention.
When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community.

In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.
It is the fifth installment and reboot of the film series, and a remake of the 1984 film.
The Toxic Avenger stars Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, and Jane Levy. It is written and directed by Macon Blair and based on Lloyd Kaufman’s film of the same name.
It has had a weird path to the screen. The Toxic Avenger was shot way back in 2022 and premiered as the opening film of Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2023, with a wider theatrical release not happening until now, via Cineverse and Iconic Events Releasing in the United States.
On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 92% from 25 critics’ reviews.
The Toxic Avenger opens in theaters on August 29, 2025.
