There was a teaser to the new Wallace & Gromit movie recently, but now there is a full trailer and it’s bringing back one of the most evil villains of all time.
OK, so Feathers McGraw isn’t exactly Buffalo Bill, but he is very, very naughty. He is back in Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, from Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham.
The cast is a who’s who of British talent and Lenny Henry. It stars Ben Whitehead, Peter Kay, Reece Shearsmith, Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh and Lenny Henry. The story is:
In this next instalment, Gromit’s concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves justified, when Wallace invents a “smart” gnome that seems to develop a mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again!
The trailer made it look like Cape Fear. McGraw has been stewing in jail and planning to get back at Wallace & Gromit. I hope there’s a scene with him doing chin-ups and has tattoos on his back.
One thing I did notice was the lack of Peter Sallis, Wallace’s original voice. Sallis sadly passed away in 2017 but has been a familiar actor on British TV. He had a wonderfully distinct voice and Whitehead’s impression is good, but not great.
Personally, I cannot wait to see a new Wallace & Gromit adventure. From humble beginnings of A Grand Day Out to a fanbase around the world, it’s good old fashioned family entertainment.
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl will be streaming on Netflix on the 3rd of January.
