We know that Daisy Ridley will be returning to Star Wars for a new movie, or movies, said to be set 15 years after the sequel trilogy ended.
The working assumption has been that it will feature Rey training new Jedi recruits and it is frequently referred to as the New Jedi Order.
Work is said to be so advanced that filming is expected to begin later this year. Or is it?
However Ridley was at SXSW to reveal her new movie Magpie and, inevitably she was asked about this by the team at Collider.
They also asked her if the New Jedi Order title was a done deal:
“I don’t know! I mean, I think so. From the announcement, I don’t think that’s changed. I know a script is happening, and I’m going to be reading it imminently, which is very exciting.
I think it [filming] could be this year. It could be, but I’m not sure. I think to be honest, the writers’ strike has obviously delayed quite a lot of things. So the intention was later this year. Hopefully, it will be. Otherwise, top of next, I would imagine.”
So the whole thing sounds still in a state of flux. Certainly not getting locked and ready to shoot any time soon.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directs the new Star Wars movie, if it ever gets off the ground.
