A few days ago, we reported that Sadie Sink was to appear in Spider-Man 4. All the speculation is that she will appear as Jean Grey, one of the X-Men, in the movie. This will serve as one of many jumping-off points for the X-Men to enter the MCU.
Well, not so fast! Perhaps…
There is a complication that could derail that theory, according to scooper Jeff Snieder.
According to his sources, the Marvel and Sony deal to allow the MCU to use Spider-Man means that one “major” MCU character must appear in each movie. These have been Tony Stark, Nick Fury, and Doctor Strange so far.
Jean Grey appearing in Spider-Man 4 would apparently satisfy that clause in the deal. So far, so good.
However, using Jean Grey may require Sony to give ex-Fox X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner a producing credit and pay her a producing fee. This is apparently something Sony will not be willing to do.

Current Marvel supremo Kevin Feige was once her intern and assistant. They produced Deadpool & Wolverine together, so there are no issues there.
She publically disowned the X-Men movies that came after her time as a hands-on producer for them, particularly X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which was a notorious commercial and critical flop. They were Fox projects, so there should be no impact on her relationship with Sony.
Maybe Sony simply don’t want to pay?
Marvel and Sony will not confirm who Sink is playing in Spider-Man 4, which releases July 31st 2026.
