This is getting hot and heavy and new info is coming in all the time, so we haven’t been quite as on top of this as I would like. But here’s the skinny.
In February 2021 Gina Carano posted this to her Instagram:
Of course, everyone went nuts because comparing things happening today to anything that happened in the 40s is verboten even though “Trump is Hitler” or “Bush is Hitler” or “<Insert person I don’t like here> is Hitler” has been the tool of choice of the left for years.
In the aftermath, she was let go from The Mandalorian, and a show that was in development that planned to feature her character of Cara Dune, Rangers Of The New Republic, was scrapped. Disney PR representatives made it very clear they were not going to work with her, and had no plans to do so again in the future.
Now Carano is suing Disney and Lucasfilm for discrimination and wrongful termination. This lawsuit could have far-reaching impacts on boardrooms across corporate America for their overt participation in DEI programmes.
The suit is being funded by Elon Musk, as part of his very public promise to foot the legal bill for users who claim they have been discriminated against due to their activity on his platform.
The complaint was filed on Tuesday in California federal court. The filing alleges she was fired for voicing right-wing opinions on social media. It goes even further than that.
The suit states that Disney and Lucasfilm harassed and defamed Carano for refusing to conform to their viewpoints on issues relating to Black Lives Matter, preferred pronouns, and election interference. While she was allegedly fired for her cultural and religious beliefs, Carano argues that Disney/Lucasfilm ignored her male co-stars making offensive and denigrating posts directed toward Republicans.
She points to Pedro Pascal’s 2017 post comparing former President Donald Trump to Hitler. In a statement clarifying the post on X, Carano on Tuesday said:
“My words were consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an alt right wing extremist.”
In a statement, X’s head of business operations Joe Benarroch said:
“As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.”
The suit gives details Disney and Lucasfilm went so far as to try and convince Carano’s publicist to force Carano to issue a statement admitting to mocking or insulting an entire group of people, in one case the LGBTQ+ community.
After she refused, Carano was told to meet with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and 45 employees who identify as LGBTQ+. She declined and was terminated shortly after. The suit also alleges a “post-termination smear campaign,” including the delay in broadcasting her episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls and her removal from the advertising materials.
On the Disney business side, Musk may be partnering up with Nelson Peltz. This lawsuit may be a part of that. Musk joined Peltz on the red carpet and mentioned taking over companies. So the lawsuit might be a more than just a lawsuit. Perhaps the double whammy of a lawsuit plus the ongoing financial destruction may open the door to Musk and Peltz to do a hostile takeover Disney.
Disney owned by X? Or part of the same group of companies? That could be seismic. Think about it, X is trying to become the all-in-one application. With the “message” being subsumed in X and then an entertainment library and content creation factory that can put out non-woke stuff again?
Disney is the most powerful and valuable commodity in the Woke DEI march across the institutions. It has far more exposure to children and they use that to propagandize the kids. What do you think happens if they lose that resource? And worse, it gets into the hands of their most hated enemies? If another network and film studio and sports channels get lost to Musk’s companies?
Begun the woke wars have. This will be the non-insane people’s chance to actually have reach and creativity with a built in normie audience. I don’t even think in terms of left and right or conservative or liberal anymore. It’s reality vs woke lunacy. The lunatics pretty much own all forms of media. They lost a major tool in Twitter, but that was only new media. This is huge and the lawsuit might be the hammer strike that the crazies cannot withstand. Either sell or die.
Or is it DEI?
