The cast is building nicely for The Karate Kid. The sequel that will tie together previous stories from the universe already has Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. Last week we reported on Joshua Jackson joining the cast.
Now Book Of Boba Fett and Agents Of SHIELD (and Street Fighter!) star Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast, along with Dead to Me actress Sadie Stanley.
American Born Chinese star Ben Wang will play a teenager from China moving to the East Coast and beginning to study martial arts through which he finds strength and direction.
Wen’s role is currently not known, but Stanley is rumored to be playing the film’s romantic interest for Wang’s character. Jackson will be her father.
Jonathan Entwistle directs The Karate Kid from a script written by Rob Lieber. Karen Rosenfelt will produce. Filming is imminent as a December 13th release this year is booked in.
Ming-Na Wen is expected to return to the Star Wars universe as Fennic Shand in various projects. Next up she will star opposite Paul Giamatti and Simon Pegg in Peachville.
