There is not really a lot we can say about this. Probably best if you just watch the teaser for Nosferatu for yourselves.
Well… that looks suitably creepy. The original, and the Werner Herzog remake, scared the bejesus out of a young me. I can see the same vibe here.
Focus Features has bankrolled celebrated filmmaker Robert Eggers to re-imagine F.W. Murnau’s legendary original 1922 feature. This is a passion project of The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman director.
According to the reports, this will still tell the take of a haunted young woman in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her. However, whereas the original was a German Expressionism masterpiece, this is said to be based in 19th century Romanticism.
The original was an unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. Various names and other details were changed from the novel, including Count Dracula being renamed Count Orlok and then finally Nosferatu, an archaic Romanian word with a suggested etymology of Nesuferitu`, meaning “the offensive one” or “the insufferable one”.
Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney star in Nosferatu, which was filmed in Prague, one of the best drinking cities in the world.
Nosferatu will open in cinemas on Christmas Day, for people who really hate their families everywhere.
