SPACEBALLS Sequel On The Way

I love Mel Brooks, he’s the man who gave us Blazing Saddles, Men in Tights, The Producers, Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs. All very silly movies, but also hilariously good fun.

Spaceballs goes down in history as the best Star Wars spoof ever. It came out 37 years ago and is still loved today. Obviously, now is the perfect time to release a sequel. Let’s face it, this is from Hollywood, nothing surprises us anymore.

Josh Gad is working on a new script, and he told Forbes that people have been ‘blown away’ by a new script for Spaceballs 2. Have they though? Did people read the script and get blown away? Who did you show it to, your mum?

I don’t mean to be mean, but who is Josh Gad? I heard of him from Beauty and the Beast live action remake, but that’s about it. Is he big in the US? Oh wait, I’ve just been on IMDb, he was the voice of Olaf in Frozen.

Gad has been working with Brooks on a script and the pair will produce the new movie. Alongside them, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, are co-writing, with Josh Greenbaum set to direct. Gad said:

“Everybody who’s read it has been blown away. The process of working on this with and alongside Mel Brooks has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Of course, it’s been the highlight of your career. Seeing Brooks on board is a good thing, but it’s far to late in the day for Spaceballs sequel. Barf is dead for one thing.

There is no release date for Spaceballs 2 yet, but it’s happening, whether we like it or not.
