THE ORVILLE Lives On?

It has been over two years since The Orville: New Horizons premiered on Hulu, or Disney+ everywhere else. As the show has constantly, seemingly, been under some kind of threat, many presumed it was dead. Not so, says creator Seth MacFarlane.

Out doing promotion for Peacock’s new Ted prequel he gave an interview to The Wrap and he was cryptic, but clear that it isn’t over yet:

“All I can tell you is that there is no official death certificate for ‘The Orville’ It is still with us. I can’t go any further than that at the moment. There are too many factors.”

Series co-star Scott Grimes has also added to speculation, saying they were talking about it already before the strikes shut down Hollywood:

“I do know that we are still talking about it. It’s not dead in any sort of way whatsoever. It’s just about when, where and how and building the stuff again. I’m excited because it’s one of the greatest things to work on. So I just have my fingers crossed. And I know Seth wants to do it and that usually holds a lot of power. And I hope he gets to because it’s one of his babies that he just loves and it’s a blast to work on.”

The Orville has only managed to produce 33 episodes in six years, but consistently manages to embarrass modern Star Trek by being, by some distance, the best Star Trek / not-Star Trek show on TV.
