Al Pacino Is Going To Perform THE RITUAL

A new horror is on the way, The Ritual, starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens. There is a new trailer online.

The Ritual (not to be confused with the 2017 version, which was very good), stars Pacino, Stevens, Ashley Greene, Abigail Cowen, Patrick Fabian, Patricia Heaton, Maria Camila Giraldo and Meadow Williams. David Midell is the writer/director, and Enrico Natale is writing the screenplay; both are relative newcomers.

The story is:

Two priests, one in crisis with his faith and the other confronting a turbulent past, must overcome their differences to perform a risky exorcism.

I have to say, it’s a little cliché at the ‘confronting a turbulent past’. Isn’t there always something like this with these people? Wouldn’t it be nice for someone to just turn up and do their job, without having demons in their past?

Apparently, The Ritual is based on true events, the harrowing story of the exorcism of Emma Schmidt, also known as Anna Ecklund. It took two priests to battle the devil over her soul. The exorcism lasted from the 18th Aug till the 23rd of December, just in time for Christmas.

There has been a movie version of this story, The Exorcism of Anna Ecklund, from 2016. Researchers and journalists have thoroughly recorded and investigated the entire story.

I’ve not heard of this Al Pacino guy, but he looks like he’s pretty. I hope he does well in the future.

The Ritual is having a preview on the 29th of April, with full release on the 30th of May in the UK, and the 6th of June in the US.
