Back in January, we reported that Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho was just a rumour. There was a mild sigh of relief as this director is known for Challengers and Queer, so we all knew what direction it was going to take.
It seems that Guadagnino’s American Psycho is still moving forward and is in pre-production. The IMDb still has Austin Butler cast as Patrick Bateman, although it still says rumoured.
According to Deadline, it seems that Patrick Schwarzenegger is campaigning for the lead role. I know that Arnie had kids, but I had no idea they were actors. This is a little embarrassing to be honest. Looking at Patrick’s resume, he’s starred in a lot of things, including some movies I’ve seen.
Patrick (so as not to confuse him with his father) has recently returned to the TV series, The White Lotus. It’s odd we’ve never mentioned White Lotus on the Last Movie Outpost; it seems popular, but just not our thing.
Talking about playing Bateman in the remake of American Psycho, Patrick said it would be “my dream”. Recently, a fan on Twitter mentioned him playing the role, and he replied:
“I’d love nothing more ;)”
I’d love nothing more 😉

The original American Psycho, starring Christian Bale, is a cult classic. Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the original movie was controversial and ended up being censored in several countries.
Guadagnino’s version would not be a remake, but a new adaptation of the original American Psycho novel.
