Angel Studios New Content Policy

Angel Studios, as any Outposter will know, is an independent publicly traded Christian media company and film distributor based in Provo, Utah. They are the company behind Sound of Freedom, among other movies. They are also known for having a “faith-friendly” content outlook.

Now, they have declared a new content policy for their films. Co-founder and CCO Jeff Harmon gave an interview to Fox News where he announced The Angel Promise. This policy says they will not feature on-screen sex, nudity, use of the F-word, or misuse of the name of God. He spoke about feeling they are filling a gap left by larger studios:

“I think Hollywood generally kind of lives in a bubble. These are excellent craftsmen. They’re the best storytellers in the world. Hollywood has built the best storytelling infrastructure in the world. But at the same time, they’ve kind of drifted more and more away from the values-based audience that they used to serve.”

The Angel Studios website has been amended to feature the pledge:

“No sex acts on screen – ever. No F words. And no profanity in titles submitted for young kids (12 and under). Angel will not release original films or series that misuse God’s name.”

There is also a rating system linked to their Angel Guild paid audience membership community, and in order to be included in their streaming programming the audience score must be over 70 from their approximately 3 million paying members. Harmon claims:

“This is the first time in history that a major Hollywood studio, or top 10 studio in the United States, has come and said, we’re going to let the audience have a veto right.”

It’s a bold strategy, Cotton.
