“They should just fold this into the DCU” is an often made comment at the Outpost whenever we discuss the current iteration of Batman.
It seems nobody has the appetite for yet another version of Batman running concurrently with the Robert Pattinson version.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II is now deep into filming, Meanwhile the DCU, which it is not officially part of, has Superman, Supergirl, Lanterns, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos already out of the gate, with Clayface and Man Of Tomorrow in the pipe.
The DCU version of Batman was originally announced to debut in The Brave & The Bold, to be directed by Andy Muschietti.
There has been largely radio silence since then. Other than Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey – uh-oh!) writing a draft of the script, and stories that it would feature the “bat family” including Robin, Oracle, and Damian Wayne, there has been no movement of note.
Now a journalist – Dan Marcus – has spoken with Muschietti who confirms that the project is officially on hold until after the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger is concluded.
Post-Supergirl cold feet setting in among the suits? Or will the Matt Reeeves’ world of Penguin and Batman be brought into the main DCU?
