This is one of those ‘probably won’t happen’ things, but they are talking about a remake of Them! If you haven’t seen Them!, I can highly recommend it.
It’s a classic movie about giant ants. I first saw it when I was a kid, and the noise the ants make still gives me chills. Them! originally came out in 1956 and was one of the ‘creature features’ from that time. Everything was going ‘nuclear’ and causing giant mutations. Hawk already reviewed Tarantula for us.
The effects are dated, but at the same time, very impressive for the time. There’s no CG or AI, it was all good ol’ hand-made monsters.
At the moment, it’s doing the rumour mill, so nothing is confirmed, but it’s Warner Bros. that is “said to be in talks”. Glenn Powell’s name is being thrown around, but again, nothing is officially greenlit.
If Powell ends up being in Them!, it’ll be another reboot/remake/belated sequel he’s been in. He’s been in The Running Man, Twisters, and Top Gun: Maverick. I thought it was more than that, but now I look, I can’t see more. Whatever, he seems to be the golden boy at the moment.
Have you seen Them!? Does it need a remake? I mean, it’s like most modern moviegoers would watch something in black and white! That’s so, what is it kids say these days? That’s so 6 – 7.
