As we know, Wonka 2 is happening. Timothy Charlenae is back as Wonka, in a sequel, to the prequel, to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the original (I think), that no one asked for. Well, there’s another chocolate factory in the works as well.
It will be an animation, in the style of the header image. This isn’t so bad, so far, the style looks OK.
However, it gets worse, much worse. Firstly, the story. In this re-imagining, I’m going to call it, Wonka has to deal with modern kids.
Years after the fall-out of the Golden Ticket contest, Wonka is out of prison and returned to his beloved factory. Facing eviction, Wonka encounters a new crop of teens intent on stealing his priceless chocolate bar.
The new Charlie is called Charlie Paley, and is going to be, is it Gen X? Basically, it’s going to be a modern teenager, most likely with a broccoli haircut and saying “6 7” at everything.
On top of that, there will be a whole new set of ‘rotten’ kids to deal with. Can you imagine what they have in line: Veruca Non-Glutton, 50 Shades of Grey Beauregarde, and Mike iPad. I hope they come up with better names than that, but let’s face it, it’s modern Hollywood.
Secondly, it’s been produced and starring everyone’s favourite, Taika Waititi, who has cast himself as Wonka. I’m not saying I’m old, but I remember a time when we looked forward to his movies coming out. I don’t care what you say, Jojo Rabbit is a brilliant movie. However, that was before Thor: Love and Thunder, before he turned his ego up to 11.

Charlie Vs The Chocolate Factory will be on Netflix at some point.
