I’ll be ready! The words that used to herald an entertaining hour of sun-kissed beach babes and increasingly implausible situations of peril. Baywatch was prime TV dad-porn in a time before the internet.
Well, it’s back. Judging by this trailer, they might have understood what made the original show the most watched television programme in the world and are sticking to the formula.
This new sequel series stars Arrow alum Stephen Amell as a grown-up version of the original show’s Hobie Buchannon.
In the show, Hobie is now a Baywatch captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch (David Hasselhoff).
Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie (Jessica Belkin), the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.
Pecs shall be flexed. Swimsuits will ride impossibly high on the hip, and teenage boys everywhere will suddenly become interested in television again.
Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Noah Beck co-star.
David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak will reprise their original series roles as Cody Madison and Shauni McClain. Unless they have killed off Mitch, I reckon The Hoff will also make a cameo or two.
McG directed Baywatch, which starts to air in January.
