We had a teaser for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice a little while ago, but now there is a full-blown trailer online:
I’m going to say it again, but ‘memberberries. The official blurb for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is:
Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened.
With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
So, more of the same as the first movie? I suppose if it isn’t broken don’t fix it.
Most of the original cast are back, with some new cast members, Michael Keaton, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Willam Dafoe, Justin Theroux, Catherine O’Hara, and Burn Gorman.
Tim Burton is directing and Seth Grahame-Smith, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are the writers. The last two are best known as the showrunners for the recent series Wednesday, starring Ortega.
It seems a lot of people are excited about seeing Keaton back as the Ghost with the most.
I guess if you’re a child of the 90s, this is ticking all the boxes for you. A sequel to Beetlejuice was stuck in movie limbo for many years.
Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian was on the cards for many years, but never got off the ground. There were rewrites after rewrites, with even Kevin Smith being offered the chance to have a crack at the story.
The original came out in 1988 and it’s now taken this long to get the follow-up.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be in cinemas on 6th September. Are you excited?
