It may have been the lowest-grossing entry in the old DCEU, but when James Gunn took over and launched the DCU, he did make a statement that raised some eyebrows at the time. He said Blue Beetle was actually the first DCU character, and he had plans to incorporate him into the wider new universe.
It looks like he is good to his word, as, according to a report in The Wrap, Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) will appear in the Superman sequel Man Of Tomorrow as the character. Multiple trades are also now reporting the same.

Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes, a college graduate who gains superpowers when an alien scarab latches onto him. He was the first Latino superhero to get a standalone movie. The character of Jamie Reyes made his first appearance in Infinite Crisis #3 (February 2006). He was the third character to assume the Blue Beetle codename.
The movie only made $130.8 million worldwide, but did massive numbers on streaming and got good audience scores.
Man Of Tomorrow sees Superman (David Corenswet) forced to team up with his adversary Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) as they work to defeat an even bigger threat: the super-intelligent villain Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). The rest of the Justice Gang will also appear.
Maridueña will next appear as Portgas D. Ace in the third season of Netflix’s One Piece adaptation.
Man of Tomorrow is due in cinemas on July 9th 2027.
