Danny Boyle first gave us 28 Days Later, then 28 Months Later, then it became 28 Years Later; how time flies. So far, there have been two of the last movies, with The Bone Temple being the last instalment.
According to Variety, Danny Boyle is adamant that 28 Years Later part 3 will happen. He said:
“28 Years 3, or whatever it ends up being called, will get made because people keep asking about it. Quite when I’m not sure, but there’s a script – a very good script by Alex Garland.”
When asked about Cillian Murphy returning from the first movie, he continued:
“[It will have] a lot of Cillian Murphy in it. Whether he’ll take his kit off anymore, that I don’t know. He’s got the Oscar now.”
It’s been a while since I saw 28 Days Later, but didn’t he die? Or am I remembering it wrong? I need to watch it again.

Boyle was talking about his newest movie, Ink. The new movie stars Jack O’Connell and Guy Pearce, and is a biopic about Larry Lamb; one of the editors of the Sun newspaper in the UK. The Sun was known for its Page 3 girls and being one of the first tabloid newspapers.
Ink has caused a bit of a stir, as Boyle admitted he used about 30 seconds of AI generated material. He said:
“There’s about 30 seconds of it in our movie where we animate a couple of old photographs. Oh, and there’s some mice. It’s very good for animals, and we had some mice that run around The Sun newsroom.”
Boyle isn’t one to shy away from new technology; Slumdog Millionaire was the first movie shot entirely on digital; I remember reading. However, with him using AI, are we on a slippery slope?
