Indiana Jones was the Man in the Hat, but that has nothing to do with The Cat in the Hat. See the trailer to see why.
Living in the UK, I’m not all that familiar with Dr Seuss. The only frame of reference I have with The Cat in the Hat is the Mike Myers version. It’s been years, but I remember it being funny.
I don’t recall it being about the Cat trying to save his job, and then something about destroying the universe, though. Why do they have to make things so dramatic?
This new Cat in the Hat stars Bill Hader, Xochitl Gomez, Tiago Martinez, Quinta Brunson, America Ferrera, Giancarlo Esposito, and Matt Berry. Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja are the writers and directors. The story is:
Meet the Cat in the Hat you don’t know in an all-new, epic adventure where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme.
The Cat in the Hat has gone with that new style of animation, which I’m still getting used to, but it looks good. It is a pity it isn’t hand-drawn, but that’s the way of the world these days.

Dr Seuss originally created the character in 1957, along with his other classics like The Grinch, Horton Hears a Who, and The Lorax. His characters were certainly out there, but there’s a wonderful charm to his creations.
The Cat in the Hat will be in cinemas on the 6th November.
