D23 is this weekend in Brazil and there’s going to be a torrent of news. We saw a teaser for Captain America: Brave New World recently, but now there is a full trailer.
I like the way it is called Captain America, and everyone keeps reminding Sam that he’s not Steve Rogers. Surely this should be called The Falcon: Brave New World. Ah, what do I know? I’m no longer the target audience.
The official story is:
Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America, finds himself in the middle of an international incident.
Brave New World has an impressive cast, Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, Giancarlo Esposito, Rosa Salazar, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Danny Ramirez and Takehiro Hira.
Julius Onah is directing, with Dulan Musson, Malcolm Spellman and Matthew Orton serving as writers, based on the characters by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Looking up Onah, again, a relative newcomer, but he has an interesting catalogue. I won’t put it here but look at his first movie.
So far, since the end of Endgame, the MCU has had a list of bombs; The Marvels, The Eternals, Black Widow, Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania. They have had a comeback with Deadpool & Wolverine, but let’s face it, that was going to make money, no matter how badly they screwed it up.
Will Captain America: Brave New World put bums back on seats? We’ll find out on the 14th of February 2025.
