Pope Francis passed away on Monday, and just as news about COVID coming from China sparked a viewing surge on Outbreak and Contagion, the events have caused the viewing figures for Conclave to spike.
With the kind of incredible timing that only a seemingly curated universe, or the firm hand of lizard overlords, could explain, the Oscar nominated Conclave was released on streaming the day after the Pope passed away.
A report in Variety states that viewing figures for the movie spiked by 283% according to analytics.
It also climbed to the top of Apple’s VOD store.
Likewise, The Two Popes also saw a viewership jump.
Conclave is currently on Peacock and Amazon Prime, The Two Popes is on Netflix.
Never thought there would be a Pope-themed binge watch on the cards, but we are where we are.
Outposter Mhatt reviewed Conclave as part of his excellent Oscar Watcher series. You can read that here.
