FAR CRY Starts Filming

It is fair to say that Alien: Earth has divided audiences. Some people out there seem to love it. Judging by the Disqus here at Last Movie Outpost, Outposters don’t love it quite so much. Noah Hawley’s next project is Far Cry.

The Fargo and Legion showrunner has been working on this for a while.

It is based on the popular Ubisoft game franchise and, like Alien: Earth, the project is set up for FX.

Joining Hawley is Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Welcome to Wrexham) and the talent lined up to star includes Steve Buscemi, Lizzy Caplan, and McElhenney himself.

The TV show will share the theme from the games of placing the antagonist in a wilderness environment where they must fight against one or more despots that control the region, as well as survive against wild animals that roam the open spaces.

The locations are usually set in a fairly challenging environment like tropical islands, East Africa, the Himalayas, or some wilderness.

The show will follow the anthology approach of the game series, with each season telling a different story in a different setting.

Hawley has promised:

“…a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens.”

Far Cry will be available on release via Hulu in the US and Disney+ worldwide.
