Fate Of The Furious. That’s a great title for the final installment in the Fast And The Furious franchise. You are welcome, Universal. But we get credit and an all-expenses paid trip to the premiere including flights if you use it. Deal? See you there. We have witnesses!
Anyway, the ending of Fast X left much up in the air, including what looks like certain death for almost the entire leading cast. The single ballsiest move in all of cinema would be to leave it there. Hanging. Just like the fate of Avon in Blakes 7.
This is Hollywood, though, and they won’t.
It seems nobody quite knows what is to come next, including actor and producer Vin Diesel. It seems he is getting mixed messages and it is making him frustrated:
He posted on Instagram on Thanksgiving to say:
“I got Universal in one ear saying we need ‘Fast X 2’ by March 2026. I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the finale. Then the writer on ‘Fast Five’ sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences. I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood. Happy Thanksgiving.”
Hollywood doesn’t really know what it is doing and is just making it up as they go along?
The last movie made decent money, but cost a small fortune, so profitability wasn’t where it needed to be. This time around they may try and go leaner to finish the show.
In the meantime, maybe they can bring us a bridging movie that shows what Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, and Gal Gadot were up to on that submarine together for a long voyage. Man, I hope there were pillow fights.
